The guidelines as set out in the British Standards are as follows:

• 32mm - 1.7m
• 40mm - 3.0m
• 50mm - 4.0m

However, these are guidelines and are advised to reduce the chance of blockages. These distances can be exceeded provided that adequate rodding and additional venting is used.
